Today we had the great pleasure of time filming with Nando Brown and the gorgeous 'Fizz', his Belgian Shepherd Malinois puppy. We took Fizz and new Naturally Happy Dogs office puppy 'Skyler' for a walk together to socialise them with other dogs and people, before coming back home to interview Nando about the Do's and Don't's of puppy playtime.
After sitting perfectly with Nando for the interview, Fizz started to get fidgety so we went straight on to 'puppy biting and what to do about it' before settling her down for a nap.
For the last video, the 'attention spans of puppies', Skyler took Fizz's position on Nando's lap, but it was clear the morning had worn her out as she slept peacefully the whole way through.
We look forward to bringing these videos to you soon.

So what is it like to be a dog trainer?
We met up with Adem Fehmi today from Dog Ease in Hertfordshire to find out all about what life is like as a dog trainer. Adem told us how your people skills are just as important as your dog training skills and how it can be hard to not get emotionally attached to some of his canine clients.
We filmed his agility and obedience class in action as well as filming a little bit of gundog work in the break.

Filming some very Good Citizens
Today we were with Hatfield Dog Training Club filming the classes for a series of videos about the Kennel Club Good Citizens Dog Scheme. This is a scheme set up to encourage owners to learn about their dog's needs and train them to become well behaved members of society.
Gillian Clow has been a dog trainer for 30 years and has been involved with the scheme since it was started in 1992. She explained to us all about the scheme and the different levels and we watched the different classes in action. We even got to film a couple of tests happening and were very pleased that they both passed their levels to get their certificates.

More videos for September 2014
Just like their human companions, there are times when dogs need to relax and times when they need to get up and go. This month we look at both ends of the spectrum.
Brenda Aloff shows how we can help an over-excitable dog to calm with the be-still cue and we look at a case study of a dog who was fearful at the vets. Someone who can help our dogs to relax is a Canine Massage Therapist and this month we hear what that’s like as a career. We also have the first of two videos looking at one solution for helping our dogs to take it easy on walks rather than straining on the leash.
A rather more energetic form of taking your dog out on a leash is the sport of Canicross. This month we find out how you can get started. Another active bunch are the Essex K9 Display Team. This month we see them in action. We continue our series on the different roles at a dog show by finding out what the ring steward does and also look at natural therapies for digestive problems.
A mixed bag as ever but something, we hope, for everyone.
